Pearls are the only gems born from a living creature, and the only ones that need no cutting to shine.
A treasure older than history
Long before gold was minted or diamonds were cut, people prized pearls. A pearl found on Marawah Island, off the coast of Abu Dhabi, was buried with its owner nearly 8,000 years ago, making it one of the oldest jewels ever discovered.
Worn by empresses, queens and kings
In ancient Persia, royal women wore pearls as a sign of rank; a pearl necklace from the palace city of Susa still survives after more than two thousand years. Chinese texts recorded pearls offered as tribute to emperors, and it was in China that artisans first learned to coax freshwater mussels into forming pearls. Rome reserved them for the elite, and legend says Cleopatra dissolved a priceless pearl in wine to win a wager with Mark Antony. Centuries later, Queen Elizabeth I of England was painted draped in strands of pearls, a symbol of purity and power.
A jewel of the Americas
The waters of the Americas gave the world some of its most famous pearls. In the 1500s the islands of Venezuela and the Gulf of Panama sent pearls across the ocean to the courts of Spain, among them La Peregrina, a pearl worn by Spanish queens for generations.
Our story
Lululux Pearls was born from that same fascination. We are a family business that has worked with freshwater pearls for years, and every Lululux piece begins the same way: by hand, choosing each pearl for its luster, shape and soul. Our artisans string, wrap and set every bracelet and headband one at a time, blending timeless technique with a modern eye.
We believe pearls are not reserved for royalty. They are for the bride, the graduate, the mother, the friend, and for you, on an ordinary Tuesday. Each piece is made to be worn often, gifted with love and passed down, carrying a little of that ancient story into yours.
